Greenleaf Trail

Trail: Greenleaf Trail

Last Sunday Pat and I had planned to do a redlining loop starting at Lincoln Woods and ending on Hancock Notch Trail. But when we got to the parking lot a Ranger came over and told us, in no uncertain terms, that we should not attempt ANY water crossings. Change of plans. We looked at the map for a trail we had not done that had no water crossings — not easy! We had never climbed Lafayette via the Greenleaf Trail so up we went! We hiked from fall to winter, in lots of water on the trail (but no water crossings!). We made it to the hut, but Lafayette was completely socked in and we decided to head back. But we got 2.7 miles of redlining in our 6 mile hike and we got to be outside all day, in the beauty of nature, working our bodies, sharing with each other. Doesn’t get any better than that!
