We bare boot on a couple of inches of power over ice/snow – the remnants of the 2 – 3’ we received before the warm rains came and melted a lot of it. My head is down, watching the uneven trail, for most of the hike. I only look up when we stop to drink. I make it my goal to try and stay close to Nancy so we can talk (or not) and stay connected.
Naked branches on a stark backdrop of blue sky. Maybe 26° when we start at 8:30 am, growing slightly colder and breezier as we reach the height of land. I am comfortable in a light top with a Techwick over it. No silks under my pants. Physically, I feel my breathing more than anything else. My legs occasionally fade on the steep spots, but I keep pushing and never give up.
This trip report was never finished.
